Just bing it
Mon, Jun 8, 2009
Last week Microsoft launched bing and invited a bunch of people to hang out in Bellevue for a couple days and get indoctrinated provide feedback. I like a lot of what I saw using both my eyes (one is good and one is evil). I also mouthed off to several Microsoft folks that I would use bing for two weeks and blog my adventure.
So…being true to my word I am now using bing for as much as possible short of google specific searches for client work etc.
Keep an eyeball here for my complaints observations.

I’m a developer for Active.com and we recently made a decision to leverage Bing’s unthrottled API access for part of our new search solution (a small part, but still).
Crossing my fingers that its a viable solution…

Is Bing better than google?

Never heard of BING. I wonder what it’s all about.

Bing is useful for specific searches for client work which is really amazing…It is very new to me but still i am going to try it because it is a microsoft product..I’ll be sure to spread the word around about this post..
Cool informations!!!!!

Actually I encounter some minor problems with Bing’s Search Result.
Sometimes I am not satisfied with their services.
i just don’t know why I really like the Google Search.
But its just my opinion

I don’t know - Microsoft has been trying numerous times. MSN, Live, and now Bing? I think they’re trying to find some magic formula to beat Google. Forgive me, but I’m going to be pessimistic on the chances Bing has to break even 20% of population for “preferred search engine”.
July 5th, 2009 at 10:57 am
Bing does look pretty good - however for webmasters I think it’s still better to concentrate on Google for rankings - about 80% of our search engine traffic comes from Google, the other 20% split between Yahoo and Bing.

i agree! and i have been doing the same lol. I have been using Bing to check how it is, earlier live search from Microsoft was crap! But Bing looks promising, i like the way it makes a preview of the site, for every search result. I am certainly not complaining if we get a competitor of google, and it’s because of the simple reason that we will get more traffic to our sites, due to the wider/additional audience that bing will add! Thumbs up to bing, lets see if bing’s search results are relevant enough or not

I know Bing just a couple of months ago and
the only good thing I love about that search engine is
the background design.
I could not really see the good results as I was doing searches on it.
But I think months or years later, I would be using Bing.

I have been using Bing for past 2 weeks as so far I am very impressed by its results and now it is going to add Twitter is just another great news. Coming back to its results I feel Bing shows much more sensible results than Google on many term specially travel related. I finally believe Microsoft has given Google a fight of their life. I really appreciate Microsoft’ effort they stick with MSN, they told we will come strong, we will improve and they have done it.

I love Bing when I go to use Google I go to use some of the features in Bing and remember they are not there. Bing is amazing and I will never go back to Goggle. people use whatever works for them, instead of necessarily listening to marketing/legal departmentsThe buzz is hot from both Google and Microsoft and is more than overshadowing and elsewhere.

Bing really needs some kind of wondrous viral marketing campaign, at the grass roots level, aimed at trying to convert the hardcore and loyal Google search users into loyal Bing users. .. It will be very interesting to see how things pan out for Bing…

Microsoft believes the gap in the market comes not from the finding that 65% of people are satisfied with online search, but from the discovery that 42% of searches need refining, and a quarter of clicks land on the ‘back’ button. It is anticipated that Bing will be launched at next week’s D: All Things Digital technology conference in Carlsbad, California. All eyes will be trained on the features not already revealed by the earlier screenshots - since then, both Google and Yahoo have announced significant developments in the way their own search engines work.

I got curious with “bing” because of the mere fact that it is Microsoft’s. So I tried using it. But I got disappointed because it’s not really that friendly with blogs. I guess, Microsoft is again overstating the capacity of its product by claiming bing as a “decision” search engine. I guess, I would still stick with google. I really find google’s auto-correct feature useful. Aside from this, I like the variety of search results that google provides.

Microsoft claim these search engine as decision engine but don’t see it different. I try bing with keywords do follow blog and give do follow blog directory and search engine.
in google give result do follow directory and do follow blog itself..

Bing doesn’t fundamentally change the way search works… Bing doesn’t address the fundamental issue with search engines today… The service tries its best to help users find information they’re searching for with fewer clicks — and does this quite well for many queries…

I accept also those statements which you have been exploited in the above blog after reading and coming back to its results I feel Bing shows much more sensible results than Google on many term specially travel related. I finally believe Microsoft has given Google a fight of their life.

Actually, I’m not satisfied with Bing results. Google still the king!
July 24th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
When I can’t find it on Google, I Bing It! More quality results!
July 30th, 2009 at 10:44 pm
Great Post!! If you’re tired of using google then I think bing might be a good replacement… Bing is very good in retrieving results when compared to other search engines….

Since Bing began to work with Google’s search results have begun to disappear maps, from the places in which their use was not warranted. I have the impression that Google pointed to the start and can start to remove unnecessary additives from their results. I am talking of course about Google’s Polish, I do not know how it was reflected in other countries.

@Edmond Plumber:
If Bing delivers you always more qualitative result, why you don’t use it for your standard seach?
I use Bing to get different results. Even searching with synonyms Google delivers very similar SERPS - it’s not a plus in my eyes! -> Then I use Bing in addition.
August 6th, 2009 at 12:53 am
my initial test result shows that Bing is as good as Google when displaying relevant search results. Google might be having a tough competitor with Microsofts own search engine.
August 13th, 2009 at 6:01 am
Google is anyday better than the other one’s but i don’t see any harm in using bing. I think it’s new and interesting. Thanks for the cool information.
August 19th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
In my opinion they did a great job at launching the search engine, but I hope they succeed and don’t just dwindle down. It’s a pretty good search engine - time will tell.
August 20th, 2009 at 4:42 am
How do people get on shortlists for such invites?
August 22nd, 2009 at 2:50 am
Microsoft Bing would be the closet competitor of Google. but i still use Google because it shows more relevant results on the serp.
August 24th, 2009 at 5:33 am
Bing’s just for beginners. The search results for music there is really bad.
August 24th, 2009 at 6:47 am
Oh yeah! Bing is so much better than Google. It is now windows’ default search engine and provides more accurate results.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:29 am
Microsoft released Bing. Don’t you think Bing is an excellent browser? I think Bing is great, but people would surely stick to Google after trying Bing–out of habit.
August 26th, 2009 at 3:19 am
Bing may have to just strive for the #2 spot and compete with Yahoo instead. Google is still much better. So, maybe, BINY should have been a better name.
August 26th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
Bing is a great search engine. Love the images and all it has to offer. I agree it is better than Google.
September 1st, 2009 at 6:29 pm
I know Bing has created a buzz as they are the new kid on the scene but I can not see how they are going to cut into Google’s tremendous share of the market. Using some of the traffic counter software to some of my Real Estate sites Google is still miles ahead of both Yahoo and Bing.
September 1st, 2009 at 10:47 pm
i have been evaluating the search results of Microsoft Bing compared to Google and they are comparable. Bing gives almost the same relevant search results just like Google.
